Early Life
Mark Williams Callaway was born on March 24, 1965 in Houston, Texas. He is the youngest of five sons. He played for the Waltrip High School soccer and basketball teams. He attended Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas, about 115 miles northeast of Houston.
In 1983 he went to college on a basketball scholarship. He transferred to Texas Wesleyan University in 1985, playing basketball and majoring in sports management. He dropped out of college in 1986 and briefly considered playing professional basketball in Europe, but eventually decided to focus on wrestling.
Career
Karaway made his professional wrestling debut in world-class championship wrestling as Texas Red on June 26, 1987. In 1988, Karaway joined the Continental Wrestling Federation and wrestled under several celebrities, including Pain Masters and Punishers.
He signed to World Championship Wrestling as “Mean Mark Callous” in 1989, but changed his name to “The Undertaker” when he joined WWE in 1990. Undertaker has become one of the most popular characters in wrestling. The Undertaker is best known for his 21-game streak in WWE’s WrestleMania.

Karaway married his first wife between 1989 and 1999 and had a son born in 1993. Karaway married his second wife Sarah in 2000. In 2001, as part of a feud between Karaway and WWE, Sarah appeared on Diamond Dallas Page on television and was credited as Karaway’s wife.
The couple had two daughters before divorcing in 2007. In 2010 he married former wrestler Michelle McCool and the couple’s first child was born in 2012. Calaway is an avid boxing fan and loves mixed martial arts. He has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
