The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira will make a surprise appearance at Comic-Con, announcing a limited series of Rick Grimes and Michonne. Grimes-led movies aren’t moving forward
Longtime “The Walking Dead” cast members Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira delighted fans at the Comic Con Convention on Friday and made a surprise appearance in Hall H. Each character, Rick Grimes and Michonne, will be completed.
Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe, will be the showrunner for the series, with Lincoln and Grilla as EPs. The show will premiere next year in six episodes.
The latest TWD spin-off presents a spectacular love story of two characters transformed by a changing world. Remain separated by distance. By unstoppable force. By the spirit of who they are. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world built on the war with the dead and ultimately the war with the living.
Can they find each other, and who was in a different place and situation than they knew before? Are they enemies? mistress? victim? winner? Do they live without each other? Or do you find them also The Walking Dead?
Originally, it was planned to end Rick’s story with Universal’s independent film. According to sources, the studio has asked Craig Zobel to direct it. But Lincoln today confirmed that these plans were shelved and the network completed the story in the series. “I can’t wait to wear cowboy boots,” he said.
Nearing the end of its 11th and final seasons, The Walking Dead is the first series of apocalyptic zombie franchises based on the cartoon of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adrad. In it, survivors of apocalyptic events suffer from the nearly constant threat of zombie attacks known as “wanderers” in the midst of a collapsed civilization.
Lincoln’s character is the sheriff who led the show’s survivor group over the first nine seasons. In Season 9, Episode 5, “What Comes After,” he is estimated to have died by members of his clan after blasting a bridge with dynamite to fend off hordes of drifters.
When he then disappeared, we finally learned that he actually survived when he took off with Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh) and her companions. Grilas Michonne, the first sword-wielding survivor to be introduced in Season 3, joins the Grimes group and eventually falls in love with him and becomes a surrogate mother for the children. The character finally appeared in Season 10 and set out to find Rick after learning that he could have survived a fatal injury in Season 9.
