Snoop Dogg has purchased Death Row Records from Blackstone-owned MNRK Music Group. According to a press release from Business Wire, he will lead the brand as its owner for the next few years.
The rapper joined the brand when Doggystyle, his critically acclaimed debut album, released in 1993. He also expresses his delight at acquiring such a well-known brand:
The rapper expressed his excitement and gratitude for the chance to purchase the Death Row Records brand, which he believes has “incalculable” value
He added that it felt great to own the label he was a part of at the start of his career. “This is a significant moment for me,” he said. Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, The DOC, and Dick Griffey founded the company in 1991. According to a Variety source, the singer may acquire music rights from the label.
Suge Knight, also known as Marion Hugh “Suge” Knight Jr., is the CEO of Death Row Records.
Before, he worked with famous West Coast musicians like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
However, he is involved in the Eazy death scandal. After Notorious BIG killed in Los Angeles. He is charged.
Suge charged with murder, attempted murder, and hit-and-run in 2015 after fleeing the scene of an altercation outside a Compton burger stand. He got into a brawl with Cle “Bone” Sloan, a consultant on the Straight Outta Compton biopic.

Terry Carter died because of his injuries after Suge hit him with his pickup truck. Knight’s attorneys initially claimed that he acted in self-defense and fled the scene with two armed attackers.
In 2018, he pleaded no contest and agreed to serve 28 years in prison, 22 on voluntary manslaughter charges, and the rest on a third strike violation.
Knight is incarcerating at San Diego County’s Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility. He is transferring there on October 23, 2018. Then will be able to apply for parole in October 2037.
Suge Knight claimed in an interview after his incarceration that Dr. Dre was planning to assassinate him.
