Season one’s major characters are almost certainly coming back. Although Hemmer met a tragic end in episode 9 of season 1. But, it does not appear that Bruce Horak will join them.

Horak explained his character’s noble sacrifice in greater detail to Collider. He said, “When Gorn explodes, he’ll have no choice but to sacrifice himself in order to stop it. This is a wonderful moment for the character, in my opinion “he remarked. “Demonstrating that self-sacrifice for those you care about is at the heart of what it means to be a Starfleet officer. It’s as if it neatly tucked away all the loose ends in that lovely lesson for Uhura.”

Thanks to Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley’s impending arrival as a young James T. Kirk, the ship won’t be without one crew member for long.
