Author Tom Bower’s latest buzzy book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors, is spilling all of the tea on Meghan Markle’s personal life before she began dating Prince Harry in 2016. During her relationship with chef Cory Vitiello, the former actress revealed one spicy detail about her love life. When the Ice Bucket Challenge became viral in August of that year, the writer recalled how Rory McIlroy, a professional golfer, nominated Markle on the spur of the moment.
The mother-of-two, 40, allegedly persuaded the athlete, 33, to record the challenge with her at her friend’s New York City apartment, where they filmed it. McIlroy had recently broken up with his blonde fiancée, Caroline Wozniacki, and was rumored to be pursuing brunettes at the time, according to Bower. They struck up a conversation and decided to go out for a drink, which led to an invitation to dinner.
