Long Live The Pumpkin Queen Release Date
Long Live the Pumpkin Queen YA sequel novel by Shea Ernshaw will be released on August 2, 2022. For this short story, it will take place shortly after the events of the film and from Sally’s perspective.
A “coming-of-age” story for Sally as she learns to navigate her new role as Pumpkin Queen of Halloween Town, according to the author in a Q&A with readers. Rumor has it that the book will feature new “grim, strange” characters.

The Following is a Synopsis of what the Publisher has to say
Jack Skellington is Sally Skellington’s true love. Also, she is now officially the Pumpkin Queen of Halloween Town after a whirlwind courtship. If only she could say the same about her new position as Queen of Halloween Town. Whether Sally has simply traded her imprisonment under Dr. Finkelstein for a new, more opulent cage of her own design is a mystery to her.
In the forest Hinterlands, Sally and Zero accidentally uncover a long-hidden doorway to an ancient realm known as Dream Town. If Sally doesn’t pay attention, she’ll unwittingly set in motion a series of sinister events that put Halloween Town’s very existence in jeopardy. Without learning the meaning of being true to herself and saving the town she loves, Sally’s future is bleak.

The Movie Ends and the Book Starts
Sally and Jack’s climactic kiss atop Spiral Hill will be the subject of Ernshaw’s story in Disney Publishing’s first visit to Halloween Town. With her unintentional release of a mysterious villain into Halloween Town, happily married couple Sally and Jack find their world turned upside down.
In order to save her beloved Jack and the entire holiday season, Sally disguises herself as the Pumpkin Queen and sets out on a journey to the other holiday worlds. Among them is one that has never been to. Along the way, she uncovers secrets about how to save the world and deals with revelations about her past life.
It is based on Sally’s point of view and takes place shortly after the film’s final scene. Sally and Jack have an untold love story. Aside from that, “Sally’s journey as the Pumpkin Queen of Halloween Town is a coming of age story,” Ernshaw said in a Disney Q&A. So, the sequel will “hopefully” bring back Sally, Jack, and all the other familiar residents of Halloween Town. Also, introducing a new cast of grim, strange characters that I hope readers will fall in love with.
Ernshaw explains, “In this book, I really wanted to explore Sally’s identity and better understand not only who she is now that she has fallen in love with Jack and taken on the role of the Pumpkin Queen, but also understand how her past has affected her present desires, doubts, and dreams,” he states.
