10-year NBA veteran and “Dancing With the Stars” winner Iman Shumpert was reportedly arrested on Saturday, July 30, at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport on marijuana possession charges.
According to TMZ, Shumpert had 6.12 ounces of a “green leafy substance,” which tested positive for marijuana employing a mobile test.

TMZ reported that police skilled a potential drug violation call after TSA screeners found a plastic bag filled with a “green leafy substance.” Shumpert admitted the substance in his possession was marijuana, consistent with reports.
In addition to 6.12 ounces of marijuana, Shumpert is claimed to have had a Glock magazine and 14 9mm rounds in his possession but did not have a firearm.
Shumpert is reportedly being charged with a “State Jail Felony,” which could end in up to two years of jail time and a $10,000 fine.
Shumpert was transported to the airport jail without incident.
According to reports, Shumpert told police that he was traveling to l. a. to pick up his daughter and, during the method, asked officers “if there was any way he could make his flight.”

There has been no further reporting on whether or not an attorney represented Shumpert or whether or not he was released on bond, though he has been active on Twitter as recently as Wednesday, Aug. 3.
Shumpert, the No. 17 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, has appeared in 461 career games over 10 NBA seasons, playing an important role in Cleveland’s historic NBA title in 2016.
He last appeared in an NBA game in February of 2021 while on a 10-day contract with the Nets.
Shumpert has not officially retired from the sport but has ventured into different areas outside of basketball, winning the 30th season of “Dancing with the Stars” in 2021, releasing multiple studio albums, and acting in Showtime’s “The Chi.”

Shumpert was stopped at a TSA checkpoint around 2:40 p.m. on Saturday by authorities responding to a possible drug violation call, consistent with TMZ Sports.
Upon further examination, they found 6.12 ounces of a “green leafy substance” in Shumpert’s bag, which the 32-year-old Shumpert admitted was marijuana. The substance was additionally confirmed through later tests.
Shumpert was put in handcuffed and brought to the airport jail without incident. He could potentially confront two years in jail and a $10,000 fine if convicted on “state jail felony” charges.
