Enes Kanter is a basketball player of Turkish descent who was born without a nationality in Switzerland on May 20, 1992. He was a son of Gulsum and Mehmet Kanter.

Indeed, Kanter is fortunate to have three siblings—two brothers and a sister—who are all younger than he is. One of his brothers, Kerem Kanter, plays basketball professionally with PLK’s Slask Wroclaw. At a school connected to the Gulen movement in Turkey and affiliated with Hizmet, Kanter started in second grade.

  • Kanter played for the Fenerbahçe youth team under Serdar Apaydin’s direction from 2006 to 2008 before relocating to the United States. 
  • In the next season, 2008–09, Kanter was a rarely utilized reserve for the Fenerbahçe senior team. At least nine games—four in the EuroLeague and five in the Turkish Super League—were played in which he participated with the team.
  •  Kanter turned down professional contracts from both Fenerbahçe and Olympiacos of the Greek League because he preferred to play high school and collegiate basketball in the United States.
  • Enes Kanter was selected by the Utah Jazz with the third overall choice in the 2011 NBA Draft.
  • Later, in December 2011, he penned a rookie-scale contract with the Utah Jazz.
  • He made his rookie debut against the Los Angeles Lakers on December 27 and had the most rebounds for a Utah Jazz player with 11. Kanter finished the season with 4.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 66 games.
  • In March, Kanter had his first 20-20 game when his team beat the Charlotte Bobcats 98-68. He scored 23 points and grabbed 22 rebounds, which were both career highs for him.
