On Monday, Chelsea Handler posted a video on Instagram revealing the end of her relationship with comedian boyfriend Jo Koy, which was taped before they made the decision to break up. “As many of you have noticed, it is with a heavy heart to say that we have decided together that it is best for us to take a break from our relationship right now,” she wrote with her four million followers in anticipation of celebrating their first anniversary together.
“I wanted to let you know how much it meant to both of us that so many of you were engaged in our relationship. How much it means to me.. And how deeply I’ve come to believe in the power of love to unite us all”. More than 20 years ago, the duo first met through mutual friends and later worked together on Chelsea Lately’s late-night show. One of the best things I’ve had in my life is being loved and adored by Jo Koy”, she continued.
My outlook on the future has never been brighter thanks to him. He restored my trust in men, in love, and in my ability to be who I truly am.” In the words of Jo: “You’ve blown my creativity wide open, reignited my enthusiasm for hard work and the open road, and you’ve grounded me as nothing else has.” After being photographed together at a Los Angeles Dodgers game in August 2021, Handler and Koy were speculated to be an item, only for their relationship to be made Instagram public later that month.
She went on to say, “This is not the end,” in her post. To know that I am still loved in the same way the sun and the moon love one other is a comforting thought. The person you’ve been looking for is on their way.
